Is Massachusetts ready for a RESEARCH LODGE ?

In its basic definition, a Research Lodge is a Masonic body that examines and explores he history, culture, direction, and course of our fraternity and its role in the lives of our Brothers.

This project, part of the Masonic Leadership Institutes's Vose Class, is doing the site planning and investigation needed to lay a solid foundation for a Research Lodge for Massachusetts.

Through January 31, there will be a series of teleconference phone calls to allow Brothers from across Massachusetts to join a discussion of the issues and ideas regarding a Research Lodge.

Please feel free to join any of these calls:

- Wednesday, January 24 at 7:30 PM
- Thursday, January 25 at 8:00 PM
- Friday, January 26 at 4:00 PM (afternoon)
- Tuesday, January 30 at 7:00 PM
- Wednesday, January 31 at 7:30 PM

Just before the designated time, dial toll-free 866-704-7500.
At the tone, enter the passcode 547388#

Each call will be scheduled for 30 minutes but will be extended if there is active discussion among the Brothers participating.

Each call will begin with a summary of Research Lodge issues and current discussions given by Wor. Elliot Chikofsky of Simonds Lodge (Burlington) .

Please pass along word of these teleconference calls to other Brothers who may be interested.

For further information, email to or call 781-272-0049.

Ok, so this is mostly for the Brethren in MA. Personally I like the idea. I will try to be in on the calls if at all possible. I know that there are plenty of good research Lodges out there for folks to join, such as the SCRL, the PS and of course the QC, but having one close to home to attend and be able to present papers at would be interesting. Heck, might help me get motivated to research the sca period masons ritual so we can have a proper meeting *cough* Table Lodge *cough* at pennsic_war one of these years. Are there folks here that belong to Research Lodges in their Jurisdiction of by correspondence that might offer input of suggestions on what does or does not work for those bodies? I am sure that all insight would be appreciated.
